Best Link Building Strategies 2012

What are the best link building startegies for 2012?

Thanks to Google’s Penguin Update 2012 has been a funny year for search engine optimisation and link building. Mass hesteria seems to have hit the online marketing world. Webmasters and SEOs have been jumping to some strange and bizarre conclusions about anchor text ratios, bad neigbourhoods and link building strategies.

Some website owners have even been threatening each other with litigation because of inbound links pointing to their sites.

Below are a couple of thoughts on how you should be building links post penguin. The buzz word for link building in 2012 is Diversify.

1. Link Sources – You need to be looking for links from as wider range of sources as possible.

Link sources you should be considering include:

  • Human Edited Direcories – Consider submitting to high quality directories where links are manually reviewed for quality, don’t submit to directories that autoapprove or charge for links though.
  • Guest Blogging – Everyone is jumping on this bandwagon, a link from an authority blog related to your niche will not just gain you some trust from search engines but potential customers too.
  • Forums – Don’t use automated software to spam hundreds of forums that aren’t related to your niche, manually look for forums with people interested in your topic and participate in them.
  • Social Media – Create Facebook and Twitter profiles, submit content to sites like Stumbleupon, Reddit and Digg.
  • Press releases – Write high quality news worthy press releases and distribute them via high quality press distribution sites, don’t submit to press sites that autoapprove.
  • Image Links – Maybe create some infographics and get people sharing them, use sites like pinterest and tumblr to share pictures from your site.

2. Anchor Text – As I have mentioned before I have found sites ranking in unbelevaibly competitive niches with predominantly exact match anchor text, but I don’t think it hurts to diversify and mix it up a bit either. I would aim for about 30% anchor text using your main keywords, maybe less if you have an exact match domain.

Make sure you diversify content surrounding the links too, if you are doing directory submissions use different descriptions as much as possible.

Link to relevant internal pages as much as possible!

Guess what? I have today been working on my link building packages to make them more effective and even better value. Prices start from just £59 and are 100% white hat, all links are built manually and massive anchor text diversification is allowed.

I have seen sites charging more than my price just for manual directory submission, my packages include all of the above link building strategies and sources excluding forums.
